The Owls Are Not What They Seem…

Many don’t know that we are just a few blocks from the Double R Diner, the restaurant featured in a cult series from the late 90’s. Just last summer, our small town of North Bend welcomed camera crews, actors, and props as David Lynch began filming the revival. Season 3 will premier in 2017.

Custom Propaganda Art for Apptentive

Apptentive MuralOur friends at Apptentive moved into their new downtown Seattle office recently, and they have been in need of something to fill the empty walls. Working With You Guys is SO EASY!

WorkingWYouisEasy_Banner

Something I’ve heard a lot during the last few months is that we “make things simple” for our clients. That’s a great compliment to get, and it’s made me think about the value of good Project Management. Communicating clearly, creating less (rather than more) work, streamlining the process, and in general keeping things simple has a high value.

You, the business owner, need to focus on your business. You have your own clients to satisfy, and your own areas of expertise to refine. When the need for high quality design work arises, it needs to fit within your agenda, and not add a lot of hassle or trouble.

To arrive at a finished product that matches your vision is a careful art of collaborating, directing, finessing, critiquing, budgeting, and communicating. A successful Project Manager does a lot of this behind the scenes, so that all the client sees are design options that look great, a beta site that performs seamlessly, and then a final invoice that is exactly what they expected.

So if our clients feel this way about us, fantastic, and I wanted to share the news! The whole team here is flattered. Here’s to keeping things simple.

Grant Winner On Display

grant_top

We invited Amy McCaleb, our 2014 Grant winner, to display a piece in our studio for spring. Because we just moved into a new office space in February, our walls have been looking a little bare! Amy helped us fix that by providing a painting on loan, titled Screen.

The Center for Psyche & the Arts, LLC – Custom WordPress Website for a Unique Art Therapy Center

psyche_blog

When the owner of The Center for Psyche & the Arts, LLC approached us, she was frustrated with trying to customize an existing WordPress theme on her own. This happens often – it appears that to the ambitious, savvy user, these things should be doable without much trouble. However, the opposite is true. To really get the aesthetic, flexibility, and tools you need, it’s important to bring in a professional. (Wink wink. That would be us.) And of course, the bonus is that you get a website that not only works exactly as you want, but it also looks great and matches the identity and personality of your business!

Label Design for Hale’s Ales & Snoqualmie Brewery

Hales

I love beer. And, as a designer I get really inspired by beer label design. Beer label design is about the closest you can get to fine art in commercial design. No other labels in a store have such a variety of illustrative elements, typography and craftsmanship. It has always been a dream of mine to ‘tap’ into this industry and slowly but surely, my beer label career is finally starting to take off! Welcome, Film Websites!

Finding Hillywood
We’ve been on a big film and documentary kick over the past few months. And we love it! Not just because we love the art form, but we also love collaborating with creative people. It’s also so rewarding to work on projects that have social impact. Check out these 3 projects that we recently launched:

Finding Hillywood is a feature documentary about the beginning of Rwanda’s film industry, and a real life example of how art heals. The story follows a group of young filmmakers in Rwanda as they tour the country and show their movies on a huge inflatable film screen. For many Rwandans viewing these movies, this is the first time they’ve ever seen film. Out of so much tragedy and genocide, this movie is truly about a new beginning and a positive way to heal. World Premiere Screening at the Seattle International Film Festival on May 29th at 7pm!  Visit site>
