I love beer. And, as a designer I get really inspired by beer label design. Beer label design is about the closest you can get to fine art in commercial design. No other labels in a store have such a variety of illustrative elements, typography and craftsmanship. Miss Monster

I met Melly back in ’96 where we both studied art and animation at the School of the Art Institute of Chicago. SAIC is a place where only the self motivated survive. It is a highly competitive school with a program so intense that the drop out rate is at almost 70 percent. Back then, Melly and I hung out in the same group of friends that all had one thing in common: We worked hard. Damn hard. We lived and breathed the art making process and learned from all of each other’s various disciplines. Melly was one of those top tier students that constantly pushed herself to improve her technique and explore new ideas. And she hasn’t ever stopped.

If you are a skier/snowboarder and you haven’t heard of Liftopia yet, then it’s time you were informed. Liftopia helps skiers and snowboarders get out on the slopes more often, with up to 80% off on-mountain rates for lift tickets and mountain activities and services purchased online or through mobile devices. To sum up, they are an industry game changer.

Liftopia’s mission and platform isn’t all that makes them extremely innovative. They also invest in custom art and illustration! What? A company that leaves room in the budget for artwork you say?  This is why we LOVE them. It’s not that often that we run into a company that understands the power of original artwork and is willing to invest some dollars into visuals that stand out.

Why ‘The Medium’?

Every so often people ask us where we came up with the name for our company. When we started up about 10 years ago, we thought of our new name as a way of communicating to potential clients that we create works in all mediums. As freelance artists dabbling in multiple disciplines from graphic arts and illustration to animation and web development, we wanted it to be clear that we were the medium for all of our client’s creative needs. Since then, our process and philosophy have evolved quite a bit, but the significance of our title still rings true.
